American Daughters Collective.

American Daughters knows that teenagers, especially young womxn (including those who identify as trans and nonbinary), are brilliant. When they are taught from curricula that challenge oppressive systems and given learning spaces that provide them with the mentorship, agency, and resources to pursue their questions and interests, they can inspire people of all generations to see the world differently and act to build a better tomorrow. They don’t have to wait until graduation. At the American Daughters Collective, learning and teaching are reciprocal. Students, teachers, and community members learn and teach alongside one another, sharing knowledge, skills, and stories, and working together to solve issues in our city.

Union High School.

The Union High School model puts students in the driver’s seat of their learning, anchoring personalized, project-based learning experiences within the “Downtown KC” classroom. Drawing students both from our existing schools as well as from across the downtown region, our student population will reflect the full ethnic, economic and social diversity of our community. At Union High School, we believe that our most pressing 21st Century challenges will ultimately be addressed by students who flourish within diverse, inter-connected environments. The learning experiences at Union High School will allow students to step into these critical leadership roles, by practicing them daily.
